I don't think anyone sees this...

Hmmm. Is there a point to writing a blog if nobody reads it? I guess it is a good way to keep track of my thoughts. To look back and remind of me what God has done.

Today I bought my ticket to Peru. I leave July 26th. It is hard to believe all that has happened this year. A little timeline:
-August 17, 2017: Both my babies were adopted and I left Nairobi for what I thought was a year long furlough.
-September 7: Moved to Seattle for the year
-November 11: Received an email that changed  my future: I would not be returning to Kenya. What to do? The Lord provided and I was at my missions headquarters when this happened. They immediately suggested missionaries to contact.
-February 13: Flew to Trujillo, Peru to spend a month at an orphanage and see if that would be a good fit. It was!
-April 15: Flew to Nairobi, Kenya to say goodbye and sell my things. It was a bittersweet three weeks but God was so faithful! I was happy to go to the beach and spend time reflecting on my 6 years in Kenya. I enjoyed seeing three of my sweet foster boys too.
-Today, May 31: Bought my ticket to leave the 26 of July!

A lot of other things happened in there, but through all of it, God has been faithful. In the mountains and in the valleys, God is good!

A get away in the city

 Some friends of ours invited us to his mom's place about 20 minutes away for a couple days this weekend. We went on Saturday evening, and since we are still in lockdowns on Sundays, we stayed until Monday morning. She has a big garden and also has ducks and guinea pigs! Our little guy's sister was going to be gone so that meant we would need to bring him. We weren't sure what our friends would think about that, but they said it would be ok. They even said we could set up a pool they have! He was in heaven! It was also his first time sleeping in a new place since he was rescued. He played and played while the adults had time to talk and play games and eat! And I have never seen him eat as much chicken as he ate yesterday! I guess he likes food from the grill! Church!

 We finally were able to go to church in person today after two months online because of Covid restrictions. We had two masks for each of us and face shields, but we were just happy to be there, and thankfully for most of the service we could use just one mask. It was so good to be physically at church. There are definitely nice things about doing church at home, but it is not the same! I loved singing with everyone instead of only hearing just our little family. And it was way easier to pay attention! At home it is so easy to grab my phone or remember something I need to do. And even my 6 year old sat quietly for almost 2 hours, which is huge! We can only have thirty percent occupancy, and a lot of people join us virtually, but we are so happy at least some of the church family can be in person! Sometimes I miss my foster buddy Johnny so much I can barely breathe. Tomorrow it will be 9 weeks since I held him in my arms. Since I heard his little voice say "Minny!" or talk about cars or bugs or his sweet foster brother Isaac "Zakzak." So often people ask me if fostering is worth it. "It must be so hard giving them up" or "I could never do that. It is so painful." Yes, dear friends, painful it is. But I can tell you it is also SO worth it. The sweet 5 month old that came to me two years ago almost to the day was so quiet, so weak, so attention starved. You couldn't even hear him cry. I think he learned it wasn't worth it. All he wanted to do was cuddle up to you. It was a long time before I saw him smile. But oh how much that boy has changed! And how much he has changed me.
